Wellness exams are routine visits to Family Medicine Clinic and Women’s Health. People of all ages should schedule these exams so your provider can track your health over time.
What goes on during a wellness exam depends on your age and your health history. A member of the staff will ask for any relevant updates on your health since your last visit. That is a good time to mention any symptoms you’re experiencing or health concerns.
A wellness exam generally includes:
- Vital signs
- Heart exam
- Lung exam
- Neurological exam
- Head and neck exam
- Abdominal exam
- Skin exam
Children, especially toddlers and babies, will have slightly different measurements taken during their wellness checks. For example, a measurement of head circumference helps evaluate growth progress in babies.
The wellness visit is also a time to get any necessary lab services, like blood tests or an EKG, and vaccinations. If you need an advanced screening, such as a mammogram or colonoscopy, the Family Medicine Clinic and Women’s Health staff can schedule it for you.
