What should I expect during wound care?

Wound care starts with stopping bleeding. Your provider inquires about the nature of the wound and its cause. The wound will be cleaned, evaluated, and treated with antibiotic cream to prevent infection.

If you have a wound that requires debridement —minor surgery to remove infected tissue from an injury. If your wound needs stitches or staples, those are applied following the application of a topical anesthetic.
